You will need: 2 pak choi 2 cloves garlic 1 medium chilli 30g dried Shiitake mushroom 100g straw mushrooms (tinned) 15ml sesame seed oil 2 tbsp dark soya sauce 2 tbsp water |

1. Prepare your mushrooms
Soak the Shiitake mushrooms in warm water over night, around 12 hours. Once soaked cap them and disregard the storks. Drain and rise the Straw mushrooms under cold water. Finely slice the chilli and garlic. Slice all the mushrooms into quarters. Fry them in the sesame seed oil along with the garlic and chilli. Once the mushrooms are cook add the soya sauce and water, continue cooking till the mushrooms absorb the liquid. 2. Contract and steam Wash the Pak Choi and slice in half. Place in the steamer flat side up. Spoon the cooked mushrooms onto the Pak Choi then steam for 10 -15 minutes till the Pak Choi is soft but still slightly crunchy. Serve piping hot with the rest of the steamed Chinese vegetarian dinner. |
