1. Prepare the cabbage
skins Break the leaves of the main cabbage. Wash and dry them. Cut the cabbage leaves into 3 x 4 inch rectangles and set aside for now. 2. Prepare the vegetables Carrot: Wash and peel then slice in 1mm thick strips. Pointed sweet pepper: Wash, de-seed and cut into strips Spring onion: Finely slice lengthways Fine asparagus: Remove tough bottom half then wash. 3. Roll them up and steam them Take the chilli, garlic and ginger and chop roughly, don't worry about removing the skins. Place in the steamer water and bring to a simmer. Place a selection of the prepared vegetables in a cabbage leaf. Roll it tightly, wrap a whole chive round then tie it gently into a knot. This will take a little patience. Once your bundles of vegetables are tied up place them in the steamer for around 8 minutes. Should make around 8 Cabbage rolls, serve with dark soya sauce |
